There’s really only one class that I absolutely _need_ to get into this quarter. Biology 260 Microbiology.
However, there are only about 30 students getting into it this quarter.
Registration opened today to those with highest priority - those who have the most credits at CBC. Having transfered here I’m pretty low on the totem pole and can’t register until Wednesday.
There are only 5 seats left tonight.
I’m extremely unhappy about this situation.
Order 39479441 (horriblefailure.com) processed: Domain registration successfully completed
This is one of my stranger domain names to date. I haven’t come up with anything to do with it yet but it goes in the pile with:
effortlesspuns.com
theendhascome.com
howtoeatpancakes.com
fictionalnews.com
fatherofperdition.com
and likely a lot of other domains I can’t remember off hand.
So, I used my phone to transfer address book data to the SIM cards of each of my parent’s phones.
They didn’t want my 100+ contacts so I wiped my phone, assuming that I would just grab them off my computer later.
So it’s later now, plugged my phone in and hit sync. It proceeded to delete every entry in my computer’s address book.
…
I believe I have retrieved them off my old phone now.
I’m really trying to push Howtoeatpancakes.com and fictionalnews.com and also develop some other sites. Oh yeah, and try to make money off of them.
Still having trouble getting content on them, James won’t write articles unless they can be sci-fi. Ben won’t write articles unless someone else does. And I’ve written more articles than I planned to.
So, to that end I’m hoping to put together a central location that will include the new podcasting aspects that James and Ben want to put together. After that I’d like to incorporate blognightmare (and also get some more people on it) and just generally get everything put together.
Of course, I also have way too much else to do, especially since we are upgrading to Plone 2.1 which looks to be a little more non-trivial than I was expecting. I also have to finish getting my car fixed, try to catch up on homework, and do a take home exam for psychology this weekend.
So, much fun.
My car is back. Almost completely fixed.
Final bill: $9,007 car repair, $78 medical expenses.
An interesting discovery was made yesterday though when they went to determine what needed to be replaced for the missing undershield/skid plating. It wasn’t lost in the accident but had been completely removed, every bolt and clip at some point earlier… the car has only been serviced by Audi dealerships and Audi has no oversight of dealer service so is unwilling to assist me.
I love the car, but I will never buy another.
Well, life certainly is interesting. I’m driving a red Nissan Titan at the moment. For the uninitiated it is one of the larger full sized trucklike vehicles (excluding International’s pickup truck line which… don’t count).
I have to say I do enjoy that I can tow two of my cars with it if I chose to.
Yes, this means I was in another car accident and don’t have my pontiac and still don’t have my A4 back.
So, was poking around online test things (eMode is my favorite site for boredom) and came across eharmony, which is technically a dating service but they had a free personality profile.
So, it’s here, I’d be curious to know from various friends of mine if it is accurate in their oppinion. It’s exceptionally extensive.
Interestingly, eharmony said they would be unable to match me ” eHarmony is based upon a complex matching system developed through extensive research with married couples. One of the requirements for successful matching is that participants to fall within certain defined profiles. If we find that we will not be able to match a user using these profiles, we feel it is only fair to inform them early in the process.
We are so convinced of the importance of creating compatible matches to help people establish happy, lasting relationships that we sometimes choose not to provide service rather than risk an uncertain match.
Unfortunately, we are not able to make our profiles work for you. Our matching model could not accurately predict with whom you would be best matched. This occurs for about 20% of potential users, so 1 in 5 people simply will not benefit from our service. We hope that you understand, and we regret our inability to provide service for you at this time.”

Well, been an interesting week. My back is extremely sore still, my car is still being repaired, I’m still playing Diplomacy in International Relations.
Some updated sites:

FictionalNews.com
Both have some graphics updates courtesy of Ben and also some newish content.
In Sci-Fi news, I saw Serenity a while back. Considered it excellent.
Here are some other reviews:
CheckyPuppy.com (James Amend) Very positive review really. Lots of spoilers if you haven’t seen it. In general I agree with him, except I’ve seen the entire series a couple of times.
Ben Sidon While in general I agree with Ben on movie commentary, I have to deviate here. Ben is not a sci-fi nut like I am, he’s also never seen it. He didn’t like it and explains in gory detail why not.
Some quick disagreements. As a rule, friends of mine that are big on Startrek hate Serenity. Starwars folk are ok with it. Other Sci-fi folks have given it rave reviews. Why is this? Well, in general Trekkies are idealists, the world should be communist paradise (note that that _is_ the Federation system before you flame me Nick). Starwars is an epic battle. Serenity really is neither. It’s common folk doing what they have to do to survive and trying, when possible, to do what they think is right based on the moral code they’ve evolved over the years.
Checkypuppy goes into the dialog enough that I’ll skip out any comment other than I thought it was excellent for the movie. In other movies I might disagree but it just fits here. It’s also quite a bit better than most sci-fi.
So, that about wraps things up. Normally I’d put this in an Extended entry (you’d click a link, unless you read it in thunderbird) but I am lazy.

Ben discusses the possibility of an iPod skirt or iPod underwear (iBriefs). I think I’d rather see the videoPod. Though neither sounds really appealing.
Yeah, the iPod is really limited in what it can do, it can only play music (and view photos, be used as a harddrive, etc). Boohoo. I just want a music player.
What I want to see is better integration with cars. Yes, BMW has the little interface thing but it sucks. Sure, I can use a tape adapter (and I do) or an RF transmitter, but I don’t think I should have to. With millions of iPods sold I just want to drop it into a socket on my car and have all of my music and playlists available.
Probably not gonna happen until Audi buys Apple, but I can dream.
