The Burning Crusade

Filed under: Computers, Life, Software — jmac @ 1:51 pm

Well, I beat the road closures westbound I-90, and braved unplowed roads were only a handful of other cars were going. But, I have my copy of the World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.

Sundance Wireless

Filed under: Computers — jmac @ 3:02 pm

The Sundance Homeowners Association approved a wireless setup in the building. Good that I can put in a more reliable network (it included permission for routers in the halls). Bad that now that I had just finished the current one, I have to disassemble it and make the new one.

I’ll post a PDF of the omnigraffle sketch of what it will be soon.

Sloppy Mess of a Day

Filed under: Life — jmac @ 11:52 pm

Well, today was great… rained all day and turned the parking lot into a slushy mess. People don’t realize that slush a foot deep is about as easy to go through as having all 4 wheels in buckets of oil. As soon as the car/truck/van/SUV stops moving forward it sinks in and has zero traction.

Pushed 5 or 6 cars today, started with an attractive WSU student my mother dragged in and continued as I was one of the only people out with a shovel and winter driving experience. Ashley had to tow one group of 3 guys who were in a low slung front-wheel drive without chains up to their grill in slush. I’m hoping it solidifies a bit tomorrow and I can move my car to a better spot, it’s about as far into the slush as possible.

Also had an interesting call from someone stuck in the avalanch control who may have been dialing 425 434 numbers (Snoqualmie Pass) in sequence and figured that a number ending in 6000 had to be a business. I also get a lot of calls for people looking for the hotel, pass reports, bed and breakfast, etc. My mother chatted with her for some time and I looked up the pass closure report.

Pass was eventually opened and my parents got out and home. The meeting they came for yesterday was canceled because of the power outage.

Power came back on a few minuges ago, was out for a few hours today. Checked our emergency lighting and exit signs, none of it works, need to send off some e-mails about that and the North Entrance light.

Voicemail Oops

Filed under: Computers, Work — jmac @ 1:22 pm

Well, there seems to be a new bug in the phone system. The main box has 101 new messages today. Guessing at some sort of loop… At least it didn’t come in on an 800 number. The odd bit, it doesn’t show up on any other call log either.

Oh well…. so much fun for the new year.
