Home Again
Feels like that anyway.
At Hyak, most of my stuff isn’t here, but there are bits and pieces. A chess set, an old passport, stubs of airline tickets.
Snow has melted enough that I was able to drive up to the door, with some amount of effort, parking lot is a mess of ruts where water has flowed across it. Ruts 90 degrees from ones that would be made by drivers.
Weather is bright and sunny, feels warm even though it’s only 45F. None of the ski areas are running, Hyak doesn’t have enough snow, but Central has plenty, I think last weekend was the last for the season though.
Feels odd to listen to the familiar tick of the clock here, clocks ticking drive me crazy, as a rule, but this one just fits.
Phones and the network here are still functioning, makes me feel a bit proud. If home is where you stamp your personality upon the place, perhaps this is the closest I’ve come to that.
