4GB RAM
Upped the iMac to 4GB of memory. Aperture starts up (and loads the full library) in about 10 seconds now.
Also finished uploading the images that were used on this blog to flickr. About 90% of them anyway, didn’t have some.

Canon EOS-40D
Well, I’ll skip out on any feature lists or major reviews and just make some quick comparisons to other cameras I’ve used.
It’s quite a bit heavier than my 350D, one purchasing reason for the 350D over a 20D originally was weight and the 40D still fits in the rather heavier category.
The grip is an improvement over my 350D, I have long narrow fingers, so the height of the 350D body wasn’t a problem for me like it was for some people. The 40D though, has an easier to hold grip. This negates the weight issue, somewhat. Probably my imagination, but it feels like I have to curl my index finger farther back to reach the shutter button, as the camera is thicker I assume this is because my hand is just placed differently.
Control layout is nice, the larger screen is an improvement.
Haven’t found much of a use for live shooting yet, fun to play with though.
Also just plain haven’t done much shooting with it, yet. Counter is at 92 shots in the 2 days I’ve had it. I did get a parachute (being used as a tent type thing) falling down at Sausage Fest 2007, put on by a local church/school here. I have added Flickr integration to the blog, but I’m not using it for some reason.

Blurble…
Well, it is possible I just found the problem I’ve been having with the iMac. It looks like it may have created a 70GB log file, and then deleted it. It did leave a 2.2GB one that it had rotated out last night. Anyway, WebDAV on cyan seems to have a problem with recursive symlinks… I have one in my blog.

I have an iMac.
After it shipped, 2 days from Shanghai to Kennewick. Via Anchorage. I have almost 50GB of storage left on it, which yes, means that between it and external drives and my laptop, I am using about 1TB of total storage. Photos tomorrow, perhaps.

I bought an iMac.
Well, the Macbook Pro I was supposed to pick up today fell through.
I’ve purchased a 20″ iMac to hold me over until Apple releases a 13.3″ MBP. Or until I get way too tired of not having a laptop again.
My parents will get the iMac when that happens, theirs is many years old.

24 hours downtime
First significant (more than a couple of minutes) downtime in 201 days has now concluded at 24 hours. All of which I worked. Nothing like a phone call at 2am and then 25 hours of work on 1.5 hours of sleep…
Yeah…

Tanzania Photos (on return) #1
Printed off 22 photos for the Kinleys to have for the IEO 25th anniversary celebration. Came across this photo that I don’t remember at all but may be the best of the trip. It was taken by my camera in Tarangire National Park, I was not on the trip.
I’ll get a couple of trip albums up next week. Prints are available on request.
